Head of Practice

Mr Mike Porter

The Practice Nurses

The practice nurses work with the doctors, health visitors, district nurses and midwives as a team at all times.

The practice nurses have booked appointments for routine procedures such as ear syringing, blood pressure, blood sugar, removal of sutures, wound dressings, routine ECGs and lifestyle advice including smoking cessation.

They will also give advice on minor illnesses in the treatment room or by telephone.

Health Visitors

The health visitors are employed by the Primary Care Trust and are now part of the central team based at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. This team covers families who live within the Gosport area.

The health visiting service is available to all families with children.

Every family with a child under one year of age has a named health visitor. She will contact you before and after your baby is born and visit you after the midwife has discharged you. She is also notified and makes regular contact with all children aged 0-19 years with special needs.

Health visitors work in partnership with you and your family. They also liaise with the GPs and the practice team and any other agency which is involved.

Well Baby Clinics are run weekly and developmental assessments are undertaken by appointment. The health visitors offer support and advice to families especially those with babies and young children and are assisted by a community nursery nurse and a health care support worker.

District Nurses

The district nurses are also employed by the PCT and are attached to the surgery. Visits from the district nurse can be arranged by a doctor for patients who are confined to the home or have been discharged from hospital but still require nursing attention or terminal care.

Midwife

Our midwife holds an Antenatal Clinic at the surgery and in conjunction with the doctors will offer help and advice on all aspects of pregnancy, delivery and postnatal care. She may be contacted through reception. She is based at Blake Ward at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.

Counsellor

Where appropriate, patients can be referred by their doctor to our counsellor.
