Phlebotomy (Blood Taking) Clinic
The practice also runs a Phlebotomy Clinic every morning. Referrals to this clinic are made by your GP. Appointments can either be made by telephone or in the practice. This service is also provided for two other local practices. When attending you must bring your blood request form and, if advised, to refrain from eating for 12 hours prior to your appointment.
Influenza and Pneumonia Vaccine
In accordance with DoH guidelines, we recommend an influenza plus pneumonia vaccination for patients with diabetes, chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, patients over 65 and residents of nursing and rest homes. The practice publishes dates for vaccination in reception, generally in October and November. Please check with reception from mid-September.
Family Planning
All the doctors are happy to give contraceptive advice for which you should make a routine appointment. A full range of services is available.
Emergency Contraception
If emergency contraception is required
please see the practice nurse who will arrange for you to receive appropriate
treatment.
Routine Adult
and Travellers Immunisations
Patients requiring immunisation for
foreign travel should make an appointment for the Travel Clinic at
least one month before travel. A FEE MAY BE PAYABLE. If no appointment
is available please telephone the nurse to be given an alternative
time
Adults requiring tetanus immunisation should make an appointment
to see the nurse. Any woman who is planning to start a family and
is not sure if she has been vaccinated against rubella should discuss
this with her doctor BEFORE becoming pregnant.
Cervical Smears
We recommend that all women
between 25-65 years of age should have a smear test. The practice computer
system will automatically call by letter, all ladies aged 25-49 at
three yearly intervals and ladies aged 50-64 at five yearly intervals. When
making an appointment please tell the receptionist it is for a smear
test to allow adequate time.
Minor Operations
The practice undertakes minor operations
at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital for your convenience. Your doctor will advise
you if your condition is suitable.
Childhood Immunisations
It is important that every child
is immunised as soon as possible to get maximum protection. There are very few
reasons why a child cannot be immunised. If in doubt ask.
Your child will be called automatically for immunisation at the appropriate time.
Full details can be obtained from your health visitor.
The Childhood Immunisation Clinic is held every Wednesday from 1.30 - 2.30pm.
